Our Story
At the Lanka Data Foundation (LDF), we believe that data is more than just numbers. It’s the foundation for accountability, transparency, and informed citizenship. In a world overflowing with information, we strive to transform scattered public data into meaningful, connected insights that empower people to question, understand, and participate in governance. As a citizen-driven, nonpartisan, and not-for-profit organization, our mission is to make verified, high-quality data accessible to everyone, whether through our platform or open APIs for public-minded organizations.
Our journey began with a simple realization, while there’s no shortage of data, much of it exists in isolation. By sourcing, curating, and linking public datasets, we aim to bridge those gaps and tell the full story hidden within the numbers. Through this work, we hope to strengthen democracy, amplify citizen voices, and build a more transparent and accountable society, where data truly serves the people.
